Under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth) and related data provisions, Australian College of Technical Studies is required to collect personal information about you and to disclose that information to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). Your personal information (including the information on this enrolment form) may be used or disclosed by Australian College of Technical Studies for statistical, administrative, regulatory and research purposes. In particular, Australian College of Technical Studies may disclose your personal information to Commonwealth, State or Territory government departments and authorised agencies, and to NCVER, for these purposes.
Why we collect your personal information
As a registered training organisation (RTO), we collect your personal information so we can process and manage your enrolment in a vocational education and training (VET) course with us. If you do not provide this information, we cannot enrol you in a course or provide relevant services.
How we use your personal information
We use your personal information to deliver VET courses to you and to comply with our obligations as an RTO. This may include maintaining academic records, communicating with you about your course, and ensuring quality and compliance in our training delivery.
How we disclose your personal information
We are required by law (under the NVETR Act 2011) to disclose the personal information we collect about you to the National VET Data Collection kept by NCVER. NCVER is responsible for collecting, managing and reporting national VET data. We are also authorised by law to disclose your personal information to the relevant State or Territory training authority.
How NCVER and other bodies handle your information
The NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the NVETR Act. Your information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for purposes that include: populating authenticated VET transcripts; facilitating statistics and research on education (including conducting surveys and data linkage); and understanding how the VET market operates for policy, workforce planning and consumer information. NCVER may also disclose personal information to persons engaged by NCVER to conduct research on its behalf. NCVER does not intend to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients. NCVER is authorised to disclose information to the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) and to State and Territory authorities for purposes including VET administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation.
You may receive a student survey (from a government agency or NCVER) about your training. Participation is voluntary, and you may opt out of any survey at the time of being contacted.
